Attractions

There are many places of interest well worth a visit.

The historic village of Eyam, famous for isolating itself during the plague, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Castleton (famous for the Blue John Caverns), the spa town of Buxton (with the famous Opera House), and the beautiful Derwent Dams are all just a short distance away.

There are many beautiful (short and long) walks from the doorstep and further afield.

We have provided a selection of maps and books in the cottage; these can be found on the bookcase in the hall.

Walks

The following sites offer walks in the area. Some of the maps can be printed yourself and some offer guided tours (please check, you may need to book guided walks in advance);

Bike rides

Bikes can be hired and delivered to the cottage; visit www.peak-tours.com  or there is a bike hire on the outskirts of Buxton. You’ll need to park the car in the car park and it’s a good 10 minute walk to the shop.

The Monsal Trail tunnels are very popular for walking or cycling from Bakewell to Buxton and everywhere in between!
