Places to Eat

There is a Yellow Pages on the book case. There is an abundance of ‘good’ places to eat and drink, however here are a few of our favourites.

Pubs

  • The Stable Bar – Monsal Head Hotel. Just up the road within walking distance – please be careful as there is no path or street lighting, it’s advisable to take a torch with you if walking, local real ales, bar food and amazing views!  Dog friendly. Trip Advisor reviews
  • The Red Lion – Litton. A 3 minute drive off A623 or walk through the dale, situated on the village green, real ales and bar food. Trip Advisor Reviews
  • The Bulls Head at Foolow – a pretty village pub just a few miles from Vicarage Farm, with a friendly welcome, excellent food and helpful service, including ‘lift home’.  A large fire and ‘bring & borrow’ book shelf encourage visitors to linger, or call again.
  • The Moon Inn – Stoney Middleton. A 5 min drive on the A623.  Lovely food and reasonably priced, changing blackboard menu. Trip Advisor Reviews
  • Three Stags Heads – A 17th-century roadside traditional farming roadside inn (opposite the Yonderman Café). The rooms are small, more like a sitting room, within walking distance. You can do a circular walk from the cottage through Ravensdale down to the pub and then back up the road. Trip Advisor Reviews
  •  The Barrel Inn – Bretton (Nr Eyam). A 10 minute drive through the village of Foolow off the A623.  The highest pub in Derbyshire – 5 counties can be seen on a clear day.  Real Ales and bar food.
  • Pack Horse. This historic pub is regarded as one of the best in the Peak District. Situated just off the Monsal Trail the pub is surrounded by some of the most striking scenery the Peaks have to offer.
